Este filme dá a conhecer a luta de Dr. Bennet Omalu, neuro-patologista forense de renome, contra a NFL, para que fossem reconhecidos os elevados riscos cerebrais a que os jogadores de futebol americano estão sujeitos. Investigações levadas a cabo pelo Dr. Omalu em jogadores de futebol americano descobriram uma grande incidência de Encefalopatia Traumática Crónica, uma doença cerebral degenerativa que afecta principalmente pessoas com histórico de lesões constantes, mesmo que leves, na cabeça.
